The new way to plastic waste recycle:

The Plant using Supercritical Water starts commercial run

Recovery of TDA (Toluenediamine) from TDI (Tolylene diisocyanate) residue

: Chemical Recycling Process using Supercritical Water

TDA Recovery Plant

There has not been effective method to recover the TDI residue for reuse at the producing process of TDI, which is used in making polyurethane plastic.

Kobe Steel developed the chemical recycling process of TDA from TDI residue using supercritical water, and established the process as commercial plant.

TDI residue, TDI and the polymer, is hydrolyzed to TDA by using of supercritical water, shown in Fig.1.

This process is an environmentally friendly method without using any organic solvent and catalyst, and has high recovery rates of TDA and high reaction velocity.

Recovery Rate of TDA = over 80%
