Kobe Steel selects new representative directors

TOKYO, March 4, 2009 - Kobe Steel, Ltd. announces that at its board of directors'
meeting today it selected candidates for new representative directors.
The changes in representative directors, effective from April 1, 2009, will be
finalized after resolution at the Ordinary General Meeting of Stockholders scheduled
to be held in late June 2009 and the board of directors' meeting that follows.
