Kobe Steel selects new representative director
March 3, 2010

TOKYO, March 3, 2010 - Kobe Steel, Ltd. announces that at its board of directors' meeting held today, it selected the candidate below as a new representative director.

The change in representative directors will be finalized after resolution at the Ordinary General Meeting of Stockholders scheduled to be held in late June 2010 and the board of directors' meeting to be held afterwards.

Supervises the Audit Department, Legal Department, Human Resources Department, Accounting Department and Finance Department. Supervises company-wide corporate compliance.  Oversees the Secretariat & Publicity Department, General Administration Department, Corporate Planning Department, IT Planning Department, Marketing Planning Department, domestic branch offices and sales offices (including Takasago Works), and overseas offices (under the head office).
