Disclosure of Environmental Information

The Kobe Steel Group actively publishes environmental information and data through the Sustainability Report posted on our Web site to inform all stakeholders about environmental management in the Kobe Steel Group. Efforts are made at plants and works to improve communication on environmental issues by holding regular meetings for discussions with local residents.

Sustainability Report
Every year since the first environmental report appeared in 1999, a report has been published that compiles the Group's projects and initiatives to benefit the environment. Since 2006 social issues have been included, and this expanded version was renamed the Sustainability Report. We have striven to improve the report's content and readability, taking into account the readers' opinions we receive. We will continue our efforts to report widely on the results the Kobe Steel Group has achieved through our environmental conservation activities. As a side event to the G8 Environment Ministers Meeting, which was held in Kobe from 24 to 26 May, the Fair was organized to allow various groups and local government organizations to display information on advanced environmental protection measures. The stand was visited by the Hyogo Prefectural Governor and by government representatives from Germany Mexico and other countries, who showed interest in Kobe Steel Group products and technologies designed to harmonize people and the environment. On 23 May a special symposium was given on Climate Change and Water at which Hiroshi Sato, then Vice President of Kobe Steel, gave a talk on 'Steelmaking and Water'.
