The following air quality and water quality data relates to emissions at all works, plants and facilities operated by Kobe Steel and major group companies.

For exhaust gases the tables show emissions of NOx, dust and dioxins, and for wastewater chemical oxygen demand (COD), in some cases biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), suspended solids (SS), oil and dioxins. Regulation values are also given in all cases.

Although levels of CO₂ and waste both increased in terms of specific consumption in fiscal 2010, due to production being affected by a sharp decline in orders, we did manage to reduce water consumption by reusing rainwater. In fiscal 2011, we intend to reduce fixed power consumption by 10% compared to the previous year and reduce waste by 50%, while working to develop environmentally friendly products.
