The contents of this report were selected and compiled by the Publication Subcommittee of the CSR Committee, in discussion with the various business units. Contents were organized according to three editorial themes, with reference to issues of high concern for our stakeholders as well as items of materiality to our business operations.

Compliance is the starting point in the Kobe Steel Group's fulfillment of its social obligations. We will report on the Group's business practices, which are fair, sound and firmly rooted in compliance.

We will report on environmental considerations implemented during the manufacturing process, as well as on activities for local contribution, such as forest maintenance activities or the creation of products that reduce CO2 emissions, that make effective use of unutilized energy, or that otherwise support the environment.
