As with business locations and Group companies in Japan, the Kobe Steel Group plans to implement environmental management systems for overseas Group companies in line with Japanese standards. To this end, since fiscal 2009 the Kobe Steel head office has been carrying out environmental inspections at our manufacturing locations worldwide in order to confirm the on-site state of affairs regarding environmental management.

In fiscal 2013 inspections were carried out at six Group manufacturing companies in China, South Korea and the Netherlands. The purpose of the inspections was to identify the state of environmental management, on-the-ground conditions, and any related problems. Improvements were implemented based on the results. We will continue to carry out environmental inspections at overseas locations in fiscal 2014.
