Kobe Steel Participates in BHP-Led “CCUS Hub Study”

Kobe Steel, Ltd. has participated, as a member of an industry consortium led by BHP Group Limited, in an international joint study “CCUS Hub Study”.
The study examines, from technical, regulatory, and commercial perspectives, the potential of various approaches—including carbon dioxide capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS)—for addressing CO2 emissions generated by industrial activities in the Asia‑Pacific region.

Kobe Steel Group (also known as the Kobelco Group) identifies “taking on the challenge of carbon neutrality” as one of the priority issues under the current medium-term management plan (Fiscal 2024–2026). Kobe Steel will examine, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, approaches that support CO2 emissions reduction and the long‑term sustainability of industry, based on its expertise in steel manufacturing.
