Kobe Steel’s Chofu Works certified by ASI

Kobe Steel, Ltd. announces that its advanced materials production base Chofu Works has received a full certification for aluminum extrusion products from the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI)*1 for the Performance Standard*2 on May 22. This follows the previous year’s certification received by Moka Works*2. The certification validates that Chofu Works satisfies the international standards set by ASI in terms of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance and implements responsible production management in its aluminum extrusions business.
The ASI is an international initiative aimed at enhancing sustainability and ESG efforts throughout the aluminum value chain. Kobe Steel has been an ASI member since 2022.
Our Company is one of the few manufacturers that handle both steel and aluminum products and operates globally. The aluminum business segment has extended its reach beyond Japan to encompass other Asian countries and North America. With the acquisition of ASI certifications, the Company will enhance its support for the ASI initiative to drive transformation of the global aluminum industry.
