Kobe Steel Selected as a Constituent of JPX-Nikkei Index 400 and JPX-Nikkei Index Human Capital 100

Kobe Steel, Ltd. has been selected as a constituent of the JPX-Nikkei Index 400 and the JPX-Nikkei Index Human Capital 100^*1 for fiscal 2026. This marks our third consecutive year being chosen for the former since fiscal 2024, and our first time being selected for the latter.

The JPX-Nikkei Index 400 is a stock price index composed of companies with appeal for investors, which meet requirements of global investment standards, such as efficient use of capital and investor-focused management perspectives. The JPX-Nikkei Index Human Capital 100 is based on human capital scores calculated by ESG Book, a Germany-based ESG rating agency. Out of the companies included in the JPX-Nikkei Index 400, the top 100 are selected for this index. The index is intended to serve as a benchmark reflecting the stock performance of companies that excel in human capital-conscious management, including both disclosure and initiatives in this field.

The Kobe Steel Group (also known as the Kobelco Group) is advancing its transformation into an appealing company, as outlined in the Kobelco Group Medium-Term Management Plan (Fiscal 2024–2026), as well as through various transformation initiatives, collectively called KOBELCO-X^*2. Achieving this requires the implementation of a human resources strategy closely aligned with our business strategies. EX (Employee Experience)^*3—one of the KOBELCO-X transformation initiatives—is designed to strengthen the execution capabilities of both our people and organization. Our Group is also implementing measures to secure, develop, assign, and retain the key personnel who have been identified as essential for driving KOBELCO-X. We will continue striving to enhance our corporate value through active dialogue with the capital markets^*4, as well as through strengthening both our investment in human capital and the disclosure of related information.
