Kobe Steel, Ltd. (KOBELCO) realized the Japan's first AGT named KRT (KOBELCO Rapid Transit) in 1975 at the International Ocean Exposition Okinawa. Since then, our integral use of technology and our know-how from over many years, we’ve met customer’s various demands from planning to maintenance after delivery.
In addtion, through the past experiences, we supplied North- South Line of Jakarta Mass Transit System as the first subway in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia.

Platform Screen Door (PSD)


The Platform Screen Door (PSD) secures the passenger safety in order to prevent people falling onto or gaining unauthorized access to the track. In addition, PSD in underground stations isolates the station environment from the tunnels minimizing energy consumption and maximizing passenger comfort.

Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit North-South Line

Kobe Steel, Ltd., one of the members of Metro One Consortium (Mitsui & Co., Ltd, Toyo Engineering Corporation, Kobe Steel, Ltd., and PT. Inti Karya Persoda Tehnik) provided this historical project in Indonesia with the design and supply of the signaling and communications system as the core system of automatic operation system, automatic fare collection system and platform screen doors and also executed the system integration.
We have provided rubber tire transportation systems in Japan and overseas with various systems related to automatic operation system. Although this project was the first challenge to railway system we smoothly executed the test and commission of the trial run with railway system and trains, maximally making use of our experienced automatic operation system knowledge and were able to finish this project to keep the tight opening schedule strictly required by the customer.
