Direct Reduced Iron field

The direct reduced iron (DRI) field has been a significant part of our business since the 1970s, when we constructed a MIDREX® direct reduction plant was constructed in Qatar in 1978 and through the acquisition of Midrex Technologies, Inc. (USA) in 1983.Our Company and Midrex Technologies have established a long and successful track record in this field worldwide, and the MIDREX® Process is now one of our Group's most distinctive and promising products.
As hydrogen utilization and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) gain attention as a means of achieving carbon neutrality, Kobe Steel, together with Midrex Technologies, offer flexible solutions for various stages of the energy transition toward hydrogen utilization. By offering the MIDREX® Process, we will contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions and the realization of carbon neutrality in the steel industry.
