Midrex to Supply MIDREX Flex® Plant for U.S. Steel’s First-of-its-Kind DRI Facility at Big River Steel Works®

Midrex Technologies, Inc. (Midrex), a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of Kobe Steel, has been selected by United States Steel Corporation (U.S. Steel) to supply a MIDREX Flex plant for the company’s direct reduced iron (DRI) facility at Big River Steel Works in Osceola, Arkansas, with an annual HDRI/HBI production capacity of 2.5 million metric tons. Production is expected to begin in 2029.
