Apr. 16, 2026
Kobe Steel, Ltd.
Kobe Steel has commenced the operations of the Takasago GX Try Field as a site for demonstration and implementation aimed at achieving carbon neutrality. The site is situated at Takasago Works, which serves as a core manufacturing base for Kobe Steel’s advanced materials and machinery businesses.

Recognizing that collaborative efforts that combine diverse knowledge and technologies are essential for realizing carbon neutrality, the GX Try Field pursues solutions to societal challenges through collaboration (co-creation) by working together with external partners, including startups, as well as various other stakeholders, while leveraging the wide array of technologies and products of the Kobelco Group at actual production sites. Through this initiative, the Group aims to sustainably enhance its corporate value.
The GX Try Field is currently focused on hydrogen-related businesses and technology demonstrations at actual production sites. It operates several facilities, including an NC titanium production plant*1, a demonstration facility for hydrogen utilization in a combustion-type industrial furnace*2, a demonstration facility for hydrogen fuel cell excavators*3, a demonstration facility for large-scale liquefied hydrogen vaporizers*4, and a demonstration facility for a hybrid-type hydrogen gas supply system*5, along with the development of an environment for evaluating the operation of fuel cell excavators*6. The future plan is to expand target areas to encompass biomass, carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), etc., accelerating technology demonstrations with a view to commercialization and business development that will contribute to the realization of a carbon neutral society.
The term "Try" in the Takasago GX Try Field represents the Group's key focus on "taking on the challenge of carbon neutrality," as well as its commitment to facing challenges without fear of failure and leveraging its strengths to address societal needs. The term is inspired by a “try” in rugby, which signifies our core values.
